There's no single "best" website platform - only the best one for what you're trying to do. We build on all three of these (plus custom stacks) depending on the project, so we don't have a horse in the race. Here's how we'd help you decide.
WordPress - best for content, flexibility, and control
WordPress powers a huge share of the web for a reason: it's flexible, extendable, and you own it outright. It shines when you publish a lot of content (blogs, resources, news), need specific functionality via plugins, or want full control over hosting and code.
The tradeoff:
that flexibility comes with maintenance. Plugins and updates need managing, and a poorly built WordPress site can get slow. It rewards being built well by someone who knows what they're doing.
Choose it if:
content and long-term flexibility matter more than simplicity.
Webflow - best for design-led sites that stay fast
Webflow lets designers build custom, polished sites with clean code and excellent performance, without the plugin overhead of WordPress. It's a great fit for marketing sites, portfolios, and brand-forward businesses that want something visually distinctive and easy to update afterward.
The tradeoff:
it's less suited to complex e-commerce or heavily custom functionality, and there's a subscription cost baked in.
Choose it if:
design quality and low maintenance are your priorities.
Shopify - best for selling products
If your core business is selling physical or digital products, Shopify is purpose-built for it: inventory, payments, shipping, and checkout all handled out of the box, with a huge ecosystem of apps.
The tradeoff:
it's specialized. For a content-heavy site or a non-store business, you'd be paying for e-commerce infrastructure you don't need.
Choose it if:
e-commerce is the point, not an add-on.
The honest summary
Publishing content and want control → WordPress
Design-led marketing site, low upkeep → Webflow
Selling products → Shopify
